Bio

TL;DR — I’m a communicator, educator, writer, and (recovering) entrepreneur with a passion for ideas, stories, and people with a good sense of humor. |•| The Longer Story — By day I’m a college professor on the campus of Southern NH University. I teach public speaking and several other communication courses. I also help lead our studio program, which pairs our graphic and communication majors with real world clients. |•| While my career began in information technology, I’ve spent most of my professional life as an entrepreneur, first as the founder of an IT consultancy, then as an owner of a consumer products company, and ultimately as a management consultant helping inventors bring their products to market. After years of pitching to investors, partners, and consumers, I’ve honed my ability to explain just about anything to anyone. (Keeping me from telling stories is the real trick.) |•| A true generalist, my passion for ideas, my ability to understand complex systems, and my broad communication skills have led to a host of unique opportunities over the years. I’ve developed systems to manage online communities and led several international software engineering teams. One was tasked with developing a next-generation mobile OS and another a financial modeling application for the Bloomberg Terminal. I’ve also led design teams as they created and refined packaging, websites, and a variety of print materials. |•| By night I’m a leader in Southern NH’s TEDx community. Since joining the executive committee of TEDxAmoskeagMillyard in 2013, I’ve helmed the team responsible for selecting and preparing speakers, served as a speaker coach, and been the on-stage host of the event since 2018. Beginning in 2025, I stepped into the role of lead organizer. I’ve also been active in TEDxSNHU since its inception, serving as a speaker coach and emcee. |•| In addition, I’ve been engaged in the local community in other ways, serving on a variety of non-profit boards and committees. At the moment, I’m thrilled to be helping Global Citizens Circle tell their story. I’m also particularly proud of my time on the board of Nashua’s White Wing School where I oversaw its successful merger with another local preschool in a matter of months. |•| I earned my BA in Computer Science with a minor in Education at Dartmouth College and a Master of Public Administration from the University of New Hampshire. Finally, I grew up in Western Massachusetts when playing outside was still a thing. Sometimes I still wander around in the woods and drink from the hose. You know, so I don’t forget how.

An idea worth spreading

The way we respond to things has a lot to do with our perspective. That means we have more control over our reactions than we might otherwise believe. It's not simple or easy to do, but maybe shifting our perspectives might go a long way to creating the change we want to see in the world.
