Hello there. My name is Hemant Pawar. I'm the organizer of TEDxDYPAkurdi. I hail from a small city called Dhule in North Maharashtra, India. I come from a family with good educational background with my father being Principal of a college. I'm currently a junior at Dr. D. Y. Patil College of Engineering, Akurdi, Pune; pursuing bachelors in engineering in the discipline of information technology. I'm the branch representative of my department, which highlight my leadership skills. I was also a management co-ordinator and marketing head at ITESA (Information Technology Engineering Students Association) and EDC (Entrepreneurship and Development Cell) respectively, showcasing my management and marketing skills. My TEDx journey began as a designer and ended as being the organizer of TEDxDYPAkurdi. Along with attending classes and taking part in extra curricular activities in college, I'm also working as the database management engineer at EQvisor, a budding start-up, which highlight my programming skills. I also have immense love for the field of aviation. Imagine a 575 ton (maximum takeoff weight of A380) metal object flying in the sky. Truly an engineering marvel. (Ah yes I too dreamt of flying planes in my childhood, maybe one day hopefully) My hobbies include learning Tabla and Violin; studying Indian Law in free time, photography and travelling, and cooking. My short term goal (as of January 2025) is to have a good TEDx event at my campus in the month of September (update november 2025) it was a banger event; enhancing my programming skills and travel as many new places as I can. My long term goal is perceive masters in the EU.

Extremely competitive exams like the JEE Advance, sure do take a toll on your personality. Hi I'm Hemant, and this is my TED story. I was a bright student in my school. Along with good grades (like really good), I was also the head boy of my school twice, I used to be the host for annual days which were attended by more that a thousand people including the students and their parents. After my high schooling, I decided to start preparing for JEE. Had to cut off contact with almost every friend. Only the teachers and my books were the friends remaining hehe. Although I didn't qualify for a good tier one college, I got into a really nice tier two campus. But when I started my college, I wasn't the same Hemant as was in the school. This Hemant had lost most of the skills apart from good memory and academic skills. Slowly with time, I regained my skills back. Started actively taking part in extra curricular activities. That's when I was introduced to the team of TEDxDYPAkurdi while volunteering at a literature fest in Pune. And i joined the organization. But i was unsure of my role, so i started exploring. Sponsorship? No, not very convincing skills. Management? Seniors already looking after it, and no room for a newbie. Creativity? Hell yeah. The team was really impressed with my designing skills. So I started as the designer. Quickly I was made the social media head (because all the designs made usually were uploaded there). Then I lead the videography team. And then HR, climbing my ladder quickly. But even after such hard work, the event was not up to the par. I was devastated. That's when I decided, I'll become the next organizer, and do justice to TEDxDYPAkurdi. This is my TED story, about how a teen went on from being a silent designer to a potential organizer, in just one chapter of TEDxDYPAkurdi. If I can, why can't you? And that's an idea worth spreading.
