I am Sharad Mohan Shrivastava, a telecommunications professional with a deep-rooted passion for education, research, and societal impact. My academic journey began with a Bachelor's in Electronics and Communication from Rajiv Gandhi Proudyogiki Vishwavidyalaya, Bhopal, and continued with a Master's degree in Telecommunication from the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bengaluru. My postgraduate thesis focused on the simulation of 2D photonic crystal-based optical slow light structures, reflecting my strong interest and expertise in photonics.
Currently, I serve as a Senior Manager in Corporate Relations at the Sagar Institute of Science & Technology, Bhopal. In this role, I lead strategic communication initiatives, cultivate relationships with industry partners, and organize key corporate engagement events. I take pride in designing and implementing comprehensive communication plans that align with our institutional vision and amplify our public relations efforts.
Alongside my administrative role, I am a certified Assistant Professor in the Department of Electronics and Communication at SISTec. Teaching and mentoring future engineers is something I deeply value, and I’ve had the opportunity to serve in academic positions at institutions like the Faculty of Engineering and Technology, SSTC Bhilai, and Jai Narain College of Technology, Bhopal. I actively contribute to workshops, training sessions, and distinguished lecture series to support skill development and knowledge sharing.
My research interests lie in optical communication systems and mode-division multiplexed transmission, and I have published several papers in reputed journals. I’ve also presented at international conferences, which has enriched my perspective and kept me closely connected with developments in the field. I am an active member of several professional organizations, including IEEE COMSOC, the Photonics Society, SPIE, and the Optical Society of America. These affiliations help me stay updated on industry advancements and connect with global peers.
Beyond my professional life, I am committed to social and environmental causes. I actively volunteer for initiatives such as Volunteer for Better India and Rally for Rivers. During my time at IISc, I was a member of the Student Council and Hindi Samiti, contributing to the cultural and academic environment of the campus.
In my personal time, I enjoy reading encyclopedias, exploring epistemology, and listening to music. These interests keep me intellectually curious and grounded.
In everything I do, I strive to bring together my technical expertise, teaching experience, and commitment to social betterment to make a meaningful difference—both in the field of telecommunications and in society at large.

An idea worth spreading
Serendipity, often hailed as the soul of science, embodies the unexpected discoveries and chance encounters that fuel innovation. Throughout history, numerous breakthroughs in scientific research have occurred not through meticulous planning, but through fortuitous accidents or unforeseen connections. From Alexander Fleming's discovery of penicillin to the invention of the microwave oven, serendipity has played a pivotal role in shaping our understanding of the world. It encourages scientists to remain open-minded, embrace uncertainty, and recognize the potential for discovery in the most unexpected places. Serendipity fosters creativity, fuels curiosity, and reminds us that sometimes, the best discoveries happen by chance.
