Genevieve Thiers

Genevieve Thiers is the founder and CEO of Sittercity.com, an award-winning, online care-giving site for child care, pet care, senior care, home care, and tutors. Trained as an opera singer, Thiers had ample experience babysitting for more than 30 families as an undergraduate at Boston College, and today, over a million caregivers use Sittercity.com to link up with families nationwide. Thiers has appeared multiple times on The Today Show, The Ellen DeGeneres Show, The View, Good Morning America, the CBS Early Show, CNN, and Martha Stewart Living Radio, and has been featured in The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, Redbook, Parents, Better Homes and Gardens, and others. In 2007, she was listed in Forbes’ Junior Power League and in Crain's “40 under 40”. She has also been recognized by President Bush as the Small Business Administration Young Entrepreneur Champion of the Year (2006) and won the Women's Business Development Center Rising Star Award (2005). Her first book, Love at First Sit, was released in summer of 2008. She is a graduate of the Northwestern School of Music, and still sings opera in the Chicago area. Her latest performances were on WFMT classical station, singing Handel, Menotti's The Telephone (Lucy) at the Chicago Cultural Center, and numerous performances with chicago opera companies. She runs an opera company called OperaModa as well, which performs 2-3 shows a year in the Chicago area.
