About Caio
Bio
Caio Abujamra is a social entrepreneur and healthcare leader reshaping access to vision care in Brazil. Since 2019, he has been at the forefront of building scalable, high-impact solutions to one of the country’s most overlooked barriers to human development: preventable vision loss.
He currently serves as Chairman of “Together for Vision”, a collaborative platform that brings together six nonprofit organizations with the mission of democratizing access to eye care across Brazil. Through partnerships with both public institutions and private sector stakeholders, the initiative now delivers over ONE MILLION eye care services annually and provides more than 200,000 pairs of eyeglasses at no cost to populations each year.
In parallel, he is the President of the Suel Abujamra Institute of Ophthalmology, the largest ophthalmology institute serving Brazil’s public health system (SUS). Under his leadership, the institute has become a international reference not only for its technological excellence, but also for the technical qualification of its medical staff.
Together, these efforts have evolved into one of the most impactful visual health ecosystems in Latinamerica, addressing critical financial, logistical, and geographic barriers that prevent millions of Brazilians from accessing care.
Caio’s work is driven by a clear ambition: to ensure that people living in the most remote and underserved regions of Brazil have access to the same quality of eye care available in major urban centers. By combining innovation, operational scale, and cross-sector collaboration, he is helping to close one of the most significant gaps in socioeconomic development. The loss of vision.
Through his work, Caio Abujamra is positioning Brazil as a global reference in building inclusive, scalable, and sustainable models for vision care access.
