Cynthia Burks is a Board Director, Advisor, and Consultant for a variety of companies spanning different industries. She is currently serves on the boards of WD40 Company, Inspire Medical Systems, Torch, and Sellars Absorbent Materials. Her most recent full-time role was as the Chief People and Culture Officer for Genentech, a member of the Roche Group. Prior to joining Genentech, Cynthia worked in a variety of industries, including media, consumer goods and technology, as both a consultant and HR leader. An innovative leader, Cynthia brings system-thinking, strong analytical skills and expertise in all areas of human-capital strategy -- talent management; culture; diversity, equity and inclusion; organizational design -- to her portfolio of work and projects. In her coaching practice, Cynthia draws upon her years as a coach to leaders at all levels, partnering with them to enhance their performance at work and in life. Leading with empathy and understanding, Cynthia works with her clients to address areas for growth and supports them in exploration and execution of new ways to engage. With a pragmatic approach, Cynthia focuses on clear articulation of goals and accountability. Cynthia earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Business Finance from Marquette University, a Master of Business Administration in International Business from Thunderbird School of Global Management and a Juris Doctor from University of San Francisco School of Law. She is also a licensed attorney in California.
