About Jill
Bio
I have been attending, performing and helping to organize music for the various TEDS for years. I am probably getting older. I have had put out 8 records, one of which made a buzz by being one of the first to use fan funding. I had a hit song with "I Kissed a Girl" (not the Katy Perry one, but the much wittier and better one, albeit less financially rewarding one from 1995.. I am currently working on two musicals -one of which, I can't believe, is Yentl.
Lastly, here is a quote from the New York Times about me. I feel conceited (a word I used a lot in 7th grade) using it, but here goes:
“Jill Sobule can claim her place among the stellar New York singer-songwriters of the last decade. Topical, funny and more than a little poignant...grown-up music for an adolescent age.”
The TED story
I have been playing and attending TED for almost 10 years. I am always worried and slightly paranoid that one day they will not ask me back. It has become one the the things in my life that I look forward to.
