Bio
I love building communities of creative, passionate, and driven people, supporting them in their efforts to make our planet better by connecting them to unique and professional educational experiences, resources, and access to funding, as well as a world-class creative space for innovators and changemakers to build and fund technologies, products, and companies that matter.
I have been working with startups and venture capitalists for more than two decades, first assisting scaling and newly funded companies in building C-suite and sales channel teams, then providing them the physical and relational resources and connections that they need in order to grow.
I founded one of the nation’s oldest coworking spaces, The Urban Hive, which has been home to thousands of entrepreneurs who have created hundreds of brands that have helped to shape the cultural and economic fabric of the California capital. The Urban Hive consistently ranks in international publications as one of the best coworking spaces in the world.
I founded one of the first TEDx communities in the world, TEDxSacramento, and remain one of the TED Conference’s longest serving TEDx Curators, hosting more than 20 events, 10,000 attendees, 100 talks, and 2M online views. I have attended TED events in the United States, Canada, Qatar, and the UK.
I am currently developing I/O Labs, the California Capital region’s iHub, in a 100+ year old bank across from Golden 1 Arena, in partnership with the City of Sacramento Mayor’s Office of Innovation and Entrepreneurship and the California Governor’s Office of Business and Innovation, as well as the University of California and University of the Pacific, to further support the entrepreneurial ecosystem.
I am a founding board member of ATOS, helping to deliver an open standard for autonomous vehicles in California.
