Tye Tavaras

Tye Tavaras is currently an Associate Strategy Director at BrightHouse. Prior to joining Brighthouse, Tye Tavaras was the Director of Global Partnerships at LSU, Associate Director of Global Strategy at Emory University, and a Program Associate at The Carter Center on the Democracy Program's Democratic Election Standards project. As a study abroad advisor, Taveras focused on non-traditional locations and diversity and inclusion in international education. She also worked as the resident director in Jordan for the Critical Language Scholarships program. She was published in 2015 as a co-author of the article "Indiscriminate Power: Racial Profiling and Surveillance Since 9/11” in the University of Pennsylvania's Journal of Law and Social Change. A native of Atlanta, Tavaras obtained a B.A. in International Studies from Emory University, an M.A. in International Human Rights Law from The American University in Cairo, and a Juris Master focused on International Law from Emory Law School. Outside of work, she is an avid traveler, a sommelier, and an amateur genealogist.

Cultural genocide, although not throughly defined by international law, is a significant issue. There is an urgent need to protect tangible and intangible cultural heritage from purposeful destruction, climate change, development, etc. Humane Holistic Design provides a framework within which we can begin to look at ways that innovation and technological advances can assist us in preserving cultural heritage.
