Abby Spiwak joined The Avery Coonley School in 2023 as a Second Group teacher. Abby is a passionate and dedicated educator with a deep commitment to fostering a dynamic and enriching learning experience for her students. Her teaching philosophy centers around empowering students to realize their full potential while providing them with a nurturing environment for growth. Prior to joining ACS, she taught 4th, 5th, and 6th grade in Schaumburg. In her master’s work, she focused on Educational Leadership. This involved guiding educators and institutions to achieve academic excellence and foster a positive learning environment. With a strong background in curriculum development and a knack for integrating technology into her teaching, Abby strives to create engaging and impactful learning experiences. Her dedication extends beyond the classroom as she actively participates in and leads various professional development classes, which enables her to inspire both students and fellow educators. Abby has presented at Eastern Illinois University as well as at various schools in Illinois. She is driven by an unwavering passion for teaching, which fuels her commitment to creating transformative learning experiences for her students. This includes establishing connections with experts in various fields, such as meteorologists, national park geologists, Boeing satellite engineers, and more, enriching her students' educational journey. In her free time, she enjoys taking her Bernedoodle Henry to the dog park and visiting Lake Wisconsin with her family. Some of her hobbies include all things crafting, reading mystery books, and baking.
