Janetta Stringfellow

Janetta Stringfellow is the Chief Development Officer at PRX, a leader in public media, audio technology, storytelling, and podcasting. She formerly led the development departments at the Arnold Arboretum of Harvard University and the Commonwealth School in Boston. Prior to her fundraising career, Janetta was a producer for National Geographic Television and Viacom. With a humorous, honest, and intimate voice, her forthcoming memoir, A Gangly Brown-Skinned Girl from Nowhere is an unflinching look at race and how hers—or her lack of one—has defined her. In May 2023, she received an ALM in Creative Writing and Literature from Harvard. In both 2022 and 2023 she participated in the highly selective Sirenland Writers Conference with Dani Shapiro, Jennifer Finney Boylan, and Hannah Tinti. Janetta's writing will be included in Our Hidden Conversations: What Americans Really Think About Race and Identity by Michelle Norris, which will be published by Simon and Schuster in 2024. Janetta lives in Marblehead, Massachusetts with her partner, Eric, their cat, Nala, and a French bulldog, Oscar Don Julio.
