Michael Harmon

I'm an assistant instructional professor at University of Florida in Gainesville Florida with a PhD in media and communications. I'm very passionate about teaching about various socio-psychological research in social media communication studies. Some of the courses I teach involve interpersonal communication, public speaking, and computer mediated communication. I am primarily interested in issues related to FOMO, social anxiety, self disclosure, and certain types of ephemeral social media platforms. I'm an 80s thrash metal lover and a hardcore horror movie fanatic. I also love to exercise, travel, and have fun philosophical conversations with open minded individuals. I hope to meet some interesting people and establish some more connections in academia and other professional areas of expertise here at this year's Ted Conference!
