Bio
I'm an AP Chemistry Teacher, LEGO® Education Trainer, Google Certified Trainer, Microsoft Innovative Educator Expert, Minecraft Certified Educator, CK-12 Certified Educator, Edpuzzle Coach, National Science Teacher Association member. Additionally, as a robotics trainer I gained knowledge/skills towards STEM best practices. I always seek new methodologies like online simulations and ExploreLearning Gizmos to engage students. I introduce applications to teach/assess NGSS standards.
I'm passionate about
I'm passionate about making chemistry accessible and relevant through innovative teaching. Many see chemistry as intimidating and can't connect it to lives. I want to change that using active, student-centered lessons with real-world examples from technology and sustainability. Hands-on experiments, computer models and critical thinking activities help all students grasp concepts. My goal is equip young people to understand issues like energy, medicine and materials that hinge on chemistry. By sparking curiosity through principles they explore first-hand, I hope to empower diverse scientific thinkers. Their fresh ideas can creatively tackle global challenges. My passion is opening doors for students to appreciate chemistry as a powerful tool to shape a brighter technological future.
An idea worth spreading
Advancements in chemistry can transform technology's future in groundbreaking ways. One idea worth spreading is how chemical innovation leads to more efficient energy, stronger/lighter materials, and sustainable processes reducing waste. Chemists are developing novel catalysts to improve fuel cells and enable renewable energy solutions. They're also creating biodegradable polymers from plants to replace less eco-friendly plastics. Research on nanotech and supramolecular chemistry is yielding enhanced materials for medicine to microelectronics. Chemistry provides the foundation to make devices smaller, batteries last longer, vehicles lighter, and products safer. Spreading awareness of how chemists solve global tech challenges can inspire the next generation. The future will be shaped by those leveraging chemistry to build a more advanced, efficient and sustainable world.
The TED story
Over the past few years, I've had the privilege of coordinating student public speaking training for TEDx events in the UAE. Seeing those young people overcome nerves to share their ideas showed me the power of providing a platform for youth voices. Through coaching students on speech writing, stage presence, and conveying passion, I witnessed tremendous growth in their confidence. My proudest moments were watching introverted students I had worked with inspire the audience. Those experiences drove home the value of supporting our next generation to craft and share their ideas. I was honored to help local youth find their voice. My passion now is spreading the message that today's students have so much to contribute, if we empower them.
Things you might not know
I excel at making chemistry engaging through interactive methods. My strength is using technology, experiments, and real-world connections to make complex science accessible. I integrate computer simulations so students visualize atomic interactions. In the lab, I emphasize inquiry-based learning where students investigate chemical systems hands-on. Relating abstract principles to innovations students use daily cements understanding. Whether it's discussing chemical energy while making ice cream or modeling polymers with slime, I have a knack for sparking “aha” moments. My ability to break down difficult ideas into understandable components with visuals, analogies and step-by-step explanations resonates. Students appreciate my upbeat teaching style and gift for simplifying complexities in chemistry. I believe my talent for demystifying chemistry while keeping students engaged equips me to increase scientific aptitude.
