Márcio Gonçalves

Marcio was born in Porto Alegre, Brazil and because he enjoyed working with animals he decided to pursue a veterinary degree at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. His interest for swine production started in early 2005. While completing his degrees he took the opportunity to spend as much time as possible on commercial swine farms whenever there was a break from classes. Marcio also spent more than 5 years in the Swine Department doing internships with swine health, reproduction and production leaders. Before graduating in the veterinary school in mid-2011, he spent 10 months in a commercial research large scale sow farm conducting nutrition research. After his graduation, Marcio went to work in a swine production company in southern Brazil and had the responsibilities of overseeing nursery and finishing production. Marcio is currently pursuing a PhD degree with K-State Applied Swine Nutrition Team. In his free time, Marcio enjoys traveling and likes to swim, bike, and run.

To make a positive impact in my community, I created a podcast with the goal of reducing the knowledge gap between USA and South American livestock producers to continue to do more with less.
