Bio
I use my skills and resources available to support the creation and sharing of knowledge, and ultimately seek and communicate truth.
I welcome opportunities to contribute to projects and together further our learning, collective knowledge, and truth. I am also available to advise on TEDx events!
To reveal truth we should have both access to information and the thinking skills to comprehend the information. To ‘think like a scientist’ is critical for seeking truth across all domains.
I had the opportunity to translate my curiosity about the natural world into a PhD in immunology and biochemistry and subsequent research-based appointments, culminating in a faculty position in one of the top universities in Asia. I then took up positions in management and leadership in the international university environment where my ambition to make a difference was met with a greater sphere of influence.
To broaden my knowledge, I participate in ideas-based communities such as TED and DLD. These are fantastic avenues to meet a greater variety of people beyond my usual employment networks; people with different backgrounds, skills and perspectives.
I balance my intellectual professional life with a range of pursuits including sports and travel, I participate in sports events in different global locations. There are many parallels between team dynamics, performance and relationships within sports teams and professional situations; my professional skills have benefited from my sporting experience.
Like many people I immensely enjoy traveling to new places and returning to old favourites. I am very fortunate that circumstances allow me to experience different cultures, places, people and activities beyond my city of birth. Throughout my career I have worked within international teams, initiated and nurtured international partnerships, and developed intercultural competencies. I am a global citizen and ‘multi-local’ having lived and worked in Australia, the USA and Singapore. During my travels I photograph to capture meaningful moments and unique design, both natural and fabricated.
As a strategic and logical thinker, I apply the scientific method to formulate questions, identify and test solutions and anticipate challenges. I rapidly comprehend concepts and critical information whilst maintaining an eye for detail, value and impact. I am a capable decision-maker and operate with reliability, integrity and discretion. The ‘means’ and the ‘end’ are both emphasized in my work. I function at the individual, community and macro levels.
I'm passionate about
Different perspectives, Learning, Creating and sharing knowledge, Ideas, Truth, Health, Running, Photography, Helping others reach their best.
