Bio
I was born in the wonderful Canton of Grisons (Graubünden) and studied at the University of St.Gallen, where I received my PhD in Economic Sciences. My strong interest is in understanding how people make decisions and how societies can design rules to solve collective problems.
As a visiting scholar I had the opportunity to work on these issues with great researchers at Harvard, Pittsburgh (PIT) and London (UCL) for several years. Over time my reasearch and teaching led me to many universities around the world, including Czech Republic, Estonia, Latvia, Germany, Australia.
For the last two decades I have been affiliated with Zurich University of Applied Sciences (ZHAW) and the University of St.Gallen (HSG) as a professor and instructor of economics. I am a co-founder of OIKOS St.Gallen in 1987, a student organisation working towards transforming management & economics education for sustainability, and helped organising the first three Oikos conferences (1988-1990). Oikos International is now active in over 20 countries and 40 cities worldwide.
