My name is Dr. Saveetha, and I come from humble beginnings in rural Erode. My upbringing instilled in me a deep appreciation for tradition, and as I embarked on my path to success, I remained grounded in the values that shaped my journey. From a young age, I displayed a passion for learning, and my dedication bore fruit as I excelled in my studies, topping my district in higher secondary school. With gratitude in my heart, I successfully cracked the Medical entrance exams, which paved the way for my career as a Radiologist specializing in interventional Radiology. In an unexpected turn of events, at the age of 32, I found myself assuming the role of Director at Saveetha Medical College. This incredible opportunity was made possible with the unwavering support of my father and role model, Dr. N. M. Veeraiyan. Together, we embarked on a journey of visionary leadership that propelled Saveetha Medical College and Hospital to great heights. It was an honour to witness the institution that I lead achieve remarkable milestones such as the best hospital by the Tamil Nadu Health Systems Project for three consecutive years for our exceptional performance in CMCHIS. One of the initiatives I conceptualized, the "Save a Life" movement, empowered Saveetha Medical College to train over 200,000 individuals in life-saving CPR techniques. Additionally, we proudly organized two Guinness World Record events, where our team trained over thirty thousand people in CPR in a single day. My courage and spirit were truly tested during the battle against COVID-19. When most hospitals were forced to close their doors and fear gripped the nation, I made a bold decision to keep Saveetha Medical College and Hospital fully operational for COVID patients. We became the only hospital in the region to conduct COVID-positive deliveries, surgeries, and dialysis. Leading our dedicated team, we treated a significant number of COVID patients, earning recognition from prestigious organizations such as the Indian Medical Association, Tamil Nadu Medical Council, and the Times of India Healthgiri awards. Saveetha Medical College was acknowledged as one of the top three hospitals in India for COVID treatment by the India Today group, and we were honored with the title of Best Private Hospital in India for COVID Treatment by the Association of Healthcare Providers of India. During those challenging times, when N95 masks and appropriate PPE were in severe shortage, we rose to the occasion. Initiating our research and development wing, we developed indigenous N95 masks and PPE. Generously, we donated over 200,000 PPE kits and N95 masks to frontline workers across eight states in India. Education has always held a special place in my heart, which led me to establish The Pupil, Saveetha Eco School, in 2012. Guided by my love for children and a commitment to education, this institution has been a source of inspiration and growth. In 2017, I founded The Pupil International School, aimed at making international education and curriculum accessible to the middle class in India. It brings me immense joy to see the impact we have made, nurturing ethical values, promoting physical well-being, fostering creativity, and awakening the joy of learning among our students and alumni. But my journey has only just begun. I have embraced the tremendous challenge of developing NMV University, a state private university, to carry forward the legacy of my father, Dr. N. M. Veeraiyan. The university's mission is to attract the brightest minds from around the world to address the most pressing challenges of our time. With Divine Grace guiding me, I remain committed to bringing the highest quality education and healthcare to India. The world has yet to witness the extent of my potential, and I am driven to make a lasting impact on society. It is my humble wish to inspire others to believe in their dreams, to defy limitations, and to strive for excellence in their own unique ways.
