Bio
Dr. Darrin L. Frye, MD, MPH, holds the position of Associate Professor of Strategic Intelligence and Emergent Technologies at the Joint Special Operations University (JSOU), located at MacDill Air Force Base in Tampa, Florida. With a background as a US Army Reservist, Dr. Frye served as a Preventive Medicine and Civil Affairs officer with two deployments supporting Operation Iraqi and Enduring Freedom. He possesses three decades of clinical experience in surgical, emergency, preventive, and performance medicine, in addition to his medical military soldier career.
Dr. Frye held a significant role at the US Army Medical Research and Development Command at Fort Detrick, MD, where he led both the Medical Simulation, and Sustainment of Expeditionary Medical Skills portfolios for the Combat Casualty Care Research Program. Currently, he focuses on teaching and researching advanced tools and technologies that are crucial for the success of the Special Operations Enterprise. These emergent and disruptive technologies play a pivotal role in maintaining SOF’s operational effectiveness, ability to adapt to evolving threats, and staying ahead in the ever-changing, competitive global battlespace.
Dr. Frye's educational background includes an M.D. degree from the University of Kansas School of Medicine, an M.P.H. from Florida International University, and a B.G.S. in Human Biology from the University of Kansas.
