About Tombo

Bio

Malawian. Pan-Africanist. Energy investor. Recovering engineer. I grew up in Malawi with a front-row seat to what happens when energy is a privilege rather than a right. That experience gave me a singular obsession: how do you make clean energy and clean transport work for people who've been written out of the investment thesis? I structure blended-finance deals that drive investment into electric mobility and energy access across Africa, from rural mini-grids to charging infrastructure for electric buses and two-wheelers. The work is about making clean infrastructure bankable in markets where the returns are real but the perceived risk keeps conventional capital away. On a personal level, my values are rooted in equity, dignity and opportunity, which makes me a natural socialist. I also happen to be a salsa dancer. I'm convinced there's definitely a link between the two beyond Cuba... Something about trust, rhythm, and giving everyone the opportunity to shine!
