EXPERIENCE Eastside Pathways, Bellevue, WA Founding member of team of community leaders that established this collective impact organization focusing on mobilizing our entire community to support every child from cradle to career. Engaged more than 50 organizations in partnership in this work. Volunteer Staff – Facilitator, Community Engagement & Racial Equity January 2014-present Convene and facilitate the community engagement collaborative – developing a common understanding of racial equity and cultural integration, identifying and supporting natural leaders, and building trust and relationships between different organizations, groups, and sectors to strengthen the connection between school and community for all children and families. Board Member June 2011-present • Co-chair, Board Governance Committee September 2014-present • Member, Fund Development Committee September 2014-present Volunteer Staff – Communications & Operations June 2011-August 2013 • Created, edited and published the monthly online newsletter to inform community stakeholders of ongoing work and opportunities • Established and maintained social media presence on Facebook and Twitter to engage a broad community in the work and to provoke a conversation about what is needed for every child to succeed • Convened and facilitated workgroup exploring the community’s role in a child’s success cradle to career • Planned and managed organization events Social Venture Partners, Seattle, WA Partner 1999-present Committee Member – Diversity Cultural Competency and Equity Committee September 2012-present Research and evaluate how SVP’s diversity, culture, cultural competency and equity can be strengthened to achieve greater impact. Work with SVP staff to implement recommended changes. Facilitator – Social Venture Kids September 2007-May 2013 Supported a youth philanthropy organization that provided its youth members with the education and leadership experiences to develop giving priorities and skills including fundraising, direct marketing, social media, networking, public speaking, cultural competency training, team-building, soliciting and evaluating grant applications, conducting site visits, and professional communication. SVK members raised over $72,000 and invested in 12 nonprofits. Co-hosted a youth philanthropy event with The Seattle Foundation. Created Social Venture Kids Fellows program to provide underserved youth with SVK membership. King County Youth Summit, Seattle, WA 2011-2012 Facilitated a group of youth to host a county-wide summit for youth. Microsoft Corporation 1988-1993 Consultant • Translated software end-users licenses from legalese into common English for the European subsidiaries. Associate Marketing Manager • Managed an inside sales team project for the reseller marketing group. Print Production Specialist • Coordinated the production of English language retail product packaging into other languages. RACIAL EQUITY TRAINING/EXPERIENCE Through my work with Eastside Pathways, I have become increasingly aware of the opportunity disparity that exists in my community and its connection to race and economics. I continue to explore my role in perpetuating and disrupting the systems that create this.
