The TED story
Well I believe becoming an educator was the best decision of my life. Having said this, the irony is I never aspired to be an educator. I did Chartered Accountancy and most people work in multinational companies after doing this programme. However since I had already qualified an eligibility test for University teaching, on advice of one of my friend I took up a teaching assignment for three months just as an experiment. I actually started enjoying the academic life as soon as I joined. Before three months could end, I had already secured a tenured position in another College of University of Delhi. After about eight years of undergraduate teaching in 2005, I got an opportunity to undertake graduate teaching in the business school of University of Delhi and have never looked back since then!
I believe being with young bright minds on a daily basis is the biggest takeaway of this job. In addition, graduate teaching especially in business schools is highly dynamic in the sense that what one teaches is essentially in the backdrop of larger macroeconomic parameters prevailing in the geography in which one is operating. I am inspired by Late APJ Abdul Kalam (past President of India) who was a scientist and loved teaching and being with young children. Through sheer hard work and merit, he rose to become the President of India.
