Being my father's son taught me the value of reputation in an unexpected way. In my early years, my father was the district attorney in the 8 western-most counties in the mountains of North Carolina. Most everyone in those small towns knew my father and did not hesitate to let him know if I somehow misbehaved. Years later I was driving home to visit my parents, and a highway patrolman pulled me over for speeding. He looked at my driver's license and asked "You Glenn's boy?" and I perked up thinking it was my lucky day! Then the officer started scribbling in his ticket book and said "You know, your daddy is the most honest man I know. He'd want me to give you this ticket." Sometimes it hurts to be proud!
