Fritz, Robert, born in 1971 in Pakrac, Croatia, attended primary and secondary education in Daruvar. Graduated from the Study of Information and Communication Sciences, majoring in Librarianship at the Faculty of Philosophy, University of Zagreb. Employed in the Public Library Daruvar in 1997, and since 2007 in the Public Library Virovitica. In the profession, I worked as an assistant librarian, librarian and graduate librarian. From direct work with users and material in free access and in the specialist science department, coordination of the IT system, organization and management of collections, to the acquisition and professional processing of material, the work of informants and the preparation of cultural, informational and educational activities. Currently in the position of director of the Public Library Virovitica. Edited a collection of poetry, author and editor-in-chief of several publications, brochures, articles and reviews. Author of the book Croatian bibliography of works on basketball published until 2020.

I am passionate about my work as a librarian, my second job - a basketball coach for younger ages. I am passionate about the pleasures of travel, quality food, healthy lifestyle. As well as striving for equality, strengthening democratic principles and supporting the fight for human rights.

In its foundations, the TED concept has a lot in common with the mission of public librarianship. Ideas worth spreading are all around us, they should be made aware, articulated and presented in a form that inspires - these are the values ​​of TED. Libraries promote free access to information (knowledge and ideas) as one of the most important goals of their business. Unhindered and equal use of information is crucial for freedom, equality, equality and democracy. All in accordance with the UN General Declaration on Human Rights. The primary target group of public libraries are residents of local and regional communities, just like TED. Their inclusion and activation through programs and projects to encourage reading and the use of information sources contributes to the development of imagination, creativity and innovation. Ultimately, these processes strengthen 'the knowledge based society' in which we live. The idea that advocates public libraries in the context of free oases of knowledge and democracy is an idea worth spreading.

I successfully organized and conducted TEDx Virovitica Library 2023.
