Bio
Nona is uniquely positioned in the vertical farming sphere as she is at once a practicing Architect and Principal at GYDE Architects and the Co-Founder, and CEO of the 1st vertical hydroponic greenhouse in the United States. Vertical Harvest Farms is a cutting edge commercial scale greenhouse that not only grows food for communities, in communities~ but futures as well. Following her passion for local food and experiences growing up with a brother with developmental disabilities, Nona conceived of farms that are urban infrastructure, employing people with different cognitive abilities while bolstering the local food economy at scale. The work that Nona and her team do sits at a cross section of environmental resilience, social justice, public health and economic resiliency. Nona has cultivated expertise in both the design and implementation of innovative systems and programs that position Vertical Harvest to expand its brand to serve communities across the nation.
