Bio
I host a citizen engagement series called the Public Salon, am working on reviving an aboriginal trade language called Chinook Wawa and have started a network of volunteers to transcribe old handwritten documents of Vancouver. In the past I set up several organizations to support the quality of life of people with significant disabilities across Canada and in the US. I am Adjunct Professor teaching urban development at the University of BC. I was the Mayor of Vancouver 2006 to 2009 and I am now Legislator in the British Columbia Parliament representing Downtown Vancouver where Ted2016 is taking place. I am currently mining the history of British Columbia for narratives to inspire new directions.
