Bio
Created Gossamer Condor in 1977, Gossamer Albatross in 1979, solar-powered Gossamer Penguin in 1980, and Solar Challenger in 1981. In 1982 I decided that "doing more with less" was my subsequent mission. The company, AeroVironment, was reorganized and we developed the solar-powered Sunraycer and the battery-powered IMPACT car for General Motors, and various small battery-powered drone aircraft, the solar-powered Helios which reached an altitude of 96,863 feet, and many other revolutionary devices. The company went public this January.
