Bio
I'm a writer, journalist and traveller. While I live in rural England with my husband and two children, my roots are shallow and I'd be just as happy wandering the world. My parents were South African, so I'm a first-generation Brit. I have written six books - three fiction and three non-fiction, the latter about science, travel and an old fish. I currently work part-time as an editor at Intelligent Life Magazine, from the Economist stable, and when I'm not at work, I walk or ride (horses). I have an economics degree from the University of Cambridge and have written for newspapers and magazines in the UK, America and Africa.
I'm passionate about
So many things: Africa, the world, Middle Eastern food, Green politics, horses, my dog, my family (of course), new experiences, new people, late-night conversation - and having enough sleep (rare).
An idea worth spreading
That we must see life and the world through other people's spectacles.
