Gareth currently works in Organisational Development in Lancashire Constabulary. He has worked in operational policing for 13 years, a year of which was on the National Leadership Review at the College of Policing. Gareth believes passionately in a growth mindset, and organising this event has allowed him to try and grow them in others!

Policing is not a passive product of society, but an active and representative arm of our communities. Police can be part of active social change and encouraging this in frontline officers is the first step in empowering officers to be themselves, and not a faceless automaton driven by statute.

I made the suggestion to one of my senior officers after realising I had never seen a TEDx in policing. He agreed, and then empowered me to design and deliver the first in the UK. It's been stressful, but rewarding and I hope the event lives up to its namesake.
