Bio

Ammar Tanveer is a senior at Arizona State University studying Molecular Biosciences and Biotechnology. With that, he plans on applying to MD-PhD programs across the nation in the hopes of one day becoming a clinical scientist. Besides working in a research lab, emergency room, and being the lead organizer of TEDxASU, Ammar serves as the operations chairman for Camp Kesem ASU, a student run organization dedicated to hosting a summer camp for kids whose lives have been affected by cancer. Additionally he is the president of the ASU Origins Project Club, the student organization organizing TEDxASU. Ammar took initiative in identifying the remarkable talent present at ASU and set out to make the connections necessary to share the content of these revolutionary minds with the academic world. As an avid follower of TED talks, the innovation he was trying to share clearly coincided with TED’s theme, “Ideas worth spreading”. His dedication to the success of this event comes from his eagerness to see the progress that can be made when great minds are brought together with the intention of collaboration and cooperation.

I'm passionate about

Igniting a passion for learning in everyone around me. I believe the next great social revolution we will have as a society is when children look up to scientists and influencers of change as they currently do musicians and movie stars.

An idea worth spreading

Don't listen to the people who say you are spreading yourself too thin, growth only comes from stepping outside the confines of your comfort zone.
