Several years ago, in preparation for a job interview, I watched Amy Cuddy's TED Talk titled Your Body Language Shapes Who You Are. I applied the ideas she shared--working past the embarrassment of some of the "power stances" she suggests--and needless to say, I got the job. That was the beginning of my TED story. A couple of years later, while living in Washington DC, I attended an event much like TEDx. The diversity of ideas shared and the intellectually uplifting environment it provided impressed me and I committed to bring TEDx to the small farm town where I attend school: Rexburg, Idaho. Rexburg is one of the most unique cities in the nation and TEDx may just help show why. I hope that this event can help local community members and people around the world appreciate what ordinary people with extraordinary lives and ideas can do.
