Bio

Omar Ahmad is a technology visionary and seasoned entrepreneur with more than 18 years of experienced leadership in building, running and securing critical internet infrastructure. Ahmad serves on the City Council for the City of San Carlos and is the CEO of SynCH Energy - a company converting greenhouse gases into clean synthetic fuels. Ahmad is the Co-Founder of Trusted ID, Inc. and currently serves on its Board of Directors. Previously, he served as CTO of the privately held company, which provides consumers with the power and resources to manage and protect their credit and personal information, and control who has access to that information. Ahmad was Vice President of Operations & Infrastructure for Grand Central Communications, where he built and ran the critical network systems for the XML integrator. He previously held positions as CIO/VP Operations for Napster, the groundbreaking peer-to-peer infrastructure that forever changed the media industry. As CTO/Founder of Logictier, a Managed Service Provider with customers including Sony Pictures and the 2002 Winter Olympics, Ahmad served as architect and visionary, setting the pace for innovations in large-scale internet hosting. As the Webmaster for Netscape, Ahmad successfully scaled systems for the profit center at better than 100% growth each quarter and launched dozens of new channels, services and international datacenters. He was also the Director of Media Technology for @Home Network and the Director of Digital Laboratories for Discovery Channel Online, the pioneering internet site for new media. Ahmad is the Co-Founder and Chairman of Webmonsters, serves on the Board of Advisors for the National Youth Science Camp Alumni Association and the Technical Advisory Board for Platial.com. He is a frequent speaker on copyright/IP issues, internet infrastructure, security and policies. He is an avid photographer, pilot and mountaineer with successful summits of Mt. Kilimanjaro and Mt. Elbrus.
