Bio

Usama Abid is a technology entrepreneur. As an engineer-turned-CEO, he has dedicated himself to improving the hardware design process, and is an active contributor to the open-source community. His company, InventHub, Inc., is founded on the idea that innovation can happen at scale if: one, engineers are provided with a new way to collaborate; and two, the open-source community is empowered with resources. Prior to InventHub, Usama was the CEO of DIY GEEKS, a startup that focuses on robotics education in his native Pakistan, where Usama helped cultivate the community and ushered in a love of making with his workshops and seminars. He was recognized by TechJuice in 2018 as one of Pakistan’s “25 Under 25” -- an annual list of those helping to change the landscape in the country’s startup ecosystem. An idea worth spreading

DIY GEEKS, A community socializing technology. A social innovation making programming and electronics accessible for young kids, common people and like minded engineers. The intention with DIY GEEKS is to promote technology in Pakistan from root level. We are building maker-spaces in schools to help them learn technology, programming and electronics. The TED story

I am a technology entrepreneur with devotion to localize technology to take my under developed country one step-forward. I have always been in effort to develop localized technology solution that are cheap and effective. I aim to build a better Pakistan and a self sustainable next generation. So far, I chose different ways to make it happen, and TEDx is one of them. I want to use TEDx as a key platform to spread the innovations happening around the country whether it is in Energy Sector, Government, Education or in Health. I just want to help people spread what they are doing so as to encourage other people to do the same.
