About Kailah

I am a…

Brainstormer, Change Agent, Connector, Idea generator, World traveler

Bio

I am a creator, dreamer, and lifelong-learner. A therapist by profession, I believe in the transformative power of knowing ourselves. I am an old-soul millennial, and an extroverted introvert. I have a deep appreciation of words and whimsy. I feel life is about discovering meaning and belonging, while learning to laugh in the process. I work with individuals from all walks of life, mostly centered around trauma healing and identity exploration. I am fascinated with how trauma disrupts our understanding of ourselves and our world. I utilize practices of EMDR, Expressive Art, and Geek Therapy in my clinical work. My self-care routine includes movie-going, dad-jokes, and impromptu dance parties.

I'm passionate about

Mental Health, Play, Art, Pop Culture, and Spirituality. I am passionate about purposeful gathering, and learning about ourselves through meaningful and connective experiences with others.

An idea worth spreading

I am looking to extend the concept of mental health beyond the walls of therapy. I seek to make mental health knowledge approachable and attainable for everyday life. My aim is to help systems and communities invest in themselves and their people by turning knowledge into wisdom. This is where the true magic of change lies.

Areas of expertise

event planning, expressive art, geek therapy, mental health, trauma, writing

The TED story

I first discovered the idea of TED in high school, and it has been an incredible resource for my insatiable curiosity. I am so excited to be attending this conference, and even more excited to connect with other change-makers in this community!

Things you might not know

Word-smithing! I love language and as a result am often chewing on words, quotes, and other bookmarks of the human experience. I enjoy crafting nicknames, greeting card sentiments, and the corniest of puns. It seems to be an a-maize-ing skill I possess.
