Bio

Tinklyn Xiang is currently a grade 11 student at magee secondary school (van west area). With her previous experience of trauma caused by the overuse of social media, she thinks that the involvement in leadership activities and drawing really helped her find herself again. She is determined to help students who are feeling stressed, by providing them a relaxing environment, as well as, opening numerous leadership and volunteer opportunities throughout the year. Tinklyn has also founded an art class, which takes place every Saturday night. One of her students is a cancer survivor, so she decided to raise money for the BC children’s hospital, asking her students to donate 5 dollars every class. During September 2021, as a co-founder of the Canadian Firefly Foundation. Tinklyn came up with two projects to raise awareness, while fundraising for UNICEF Canada's school in a box event, and BC Children's hospital. By early October, she had raised over $2500CAD. Not only is Tinklyn focused on her fundraising event, she has also received great awards in numerous sports and arts events. Tinklyn is currently a CSIA ski instructor, she is also a level 8 dancer, and an award winning artist. Tinklyn also has many hobbies, including singing, acting, cooking, playing basketball, volleyball, and badminton. She participates in a band and has performed in numerous performances. These events not only gave her happiness and made her a much more positive student, but also taught her the world is bigger than you think and there are a lot of people out there who need your help. Tinklyn believes everyone who is willing to try their best, can reach their goals, and be successful.

I'm passionate about

1. helping students who are feeling stressed, by providing them with a relaxing environment, as well as, opening numerous leadership and volunteer opportunities throughout the year. 2. Connecting people in the metro Vancouver area through sharing new perspectives, hosting meaningful fundraisers, finding new interests/ideas, and developing connections. 3. ART + DESIGN gives me a shot of energy like nothing else. It is not only a way for artists to express their emotions, but it is something that makes you forget about the solidity and complexity around us.
