Head of the Banknote Division in the Research and Development (R&D) Department at Fabrica Nacional de Moneda y Timbre – Real Casa de la Moneda (FNMT-RCM). I also work as Adjunct Professor in the Division of Science & Engineering, Saint Louis University - Madrid Campus. After finishing my BSc in Physics (University of Zaragoza, 1993), I received my Ph.D. in Physics (Polytechnic University of Madrid, 2000). During my Ph.D. research, I visited two research groups abroad (Applied Optics Group, University of Edinburgh, UK, 1996-97; Advanced Optoelectronic Systems Research Group, University of Colorado, USA, 1998). After two academic years as full-time faculty (University of Nebrija, 1998-99; University of Alcalá, 1999-2000), in May 2000 I joined the R&D Department at FNMT, where I currently manage a group of 4 people. I am author of around 30 papers and several granted patents, as well as member of several technical working groups in security documents.Above all this, I have always had a keen interest in higher-education teaching, which led me to combine my main job with part-time positions in the Academia. I have been adjunct professor in the Department of Electronics – University of Alcalá for 13 years. In 2013, I joined Saint Louis University – Madrid Campus, where I collaborate on a regular basis, teaching engineering courses. In 2012, my teaching interest brought me to start a new Ph.D. in the Faculty of Education - UNED. The topic is virtual remote laboratories, both from pedagogical and technical standpoints. The main goal is to build a platform on virtual experimentation, with a strong pedagogical model based on collaborative learning, as a supplement to classroom teaching. I have already several publications on that area, referenced in the CV attached. Thesis defence should be done by the end of this year.
