My name is Giana Downing. I have lived in the Dallas area my entire life with a plan to later experience diverse cultures and languages. I am a Junior in highschool with a great passion for science and public speaking. My mission in life is to spread this passion to those willing to listen and be inspired.

The TED story
On April 23, 2022 I presented my first TEDxYouth Talk regarding the awareness of Synesthesia. I poured my heart and soul, every ounce of focus, profession, and great passion into this experience. Though there were
obstacles and sacrifices made, I knew from the moment I walked off the stage, I was compelled to bring the same incredibe experience I had received, to my future classmates and peers. After that school year I switched to a public high school. My freshman year, I did the ground work of conducting research and writing (so many) emails in hopes of possibly organizing an event the next year. With this exploration came new and challenging obstacles. With a team, endless support from my loved ones, and lots of networking I was able to overcome what seemed impossible. This allowed me to put on TEDxTaylor St Youth in June of 2024 and TEDxHeritage HS Youth in April of 2025 and May of 2026. Join me on my everlasting journey!
