Bio

Born and studied in Moscow, moved to study in Les Roches in Switzerland at the age of 21, had two internships working in hotels in Barcelona, Spain and Kyoto, Japan. I believe that was quite short and boring, but actually what I would like to talk about is not the chronology of various events happening in my life, but how those events formed and changed me. The occasions I will mostly talk about are from my working experience, but they made a huge impact on my personal life as well. The move from Russia to Switzerland truly made a difference in whom I was and whom became. In Moscow I had no willingness to study, work or develop as a personality in general. Going to university was like a torture for me and thinking of future was a pain. I had to start doing something that really excites me. My friends, one after another started leaving country to study abroad which I judged a lot, I think simply because I knew that this was the only solution, but didn't want to realise it. Finally, after year-two more of quite meaningless life, I have started working, arranging my own business, that I believed would carry me on till my last days. But in the moment when it all crashed I understood, that was it. I have to build my life and have to do it fast. Eight months later I was already studying in one of the best hospitality universities in the world and the process of strong change have started. Becoming class-delegate, which I never did in my life before, student ambassador, working for world's top best hospitality companies and all that just because I realised, thats my last chance and I have to take it! During my experience in Barcelona, I have truly developed professionally, as I started in the lowest position in the hotel and after just two months was already working in Apartments department (which is 36 most exclusive rooms of the hotel with their own reception, concierge, housekeeping, etc.), which shows how fast I can develop in the country without even speaking their language, which I sort of learnt there. Further, going to my experience as an assistant hotel manager during Winter Olympics in Sochi, I saw how far my organisational skills can take me as I have led a team of 30 people for the first time in my life and it turned out to be successful! Later on in Japan I developed an ability to adapt to any environment as Japan was quite special comparing with my previous experiences. Now that I have built a certain set of skills and working on more to come I believe that me and my team will be suitable organisers for the TEDxLesRochesHotelSchool!
