I am an Architectural Deviant with a passion in materials.

Bringing new materials knowledge and thinking to those that innovate. I work at the coalface between education, innovation and commerce. My role is simple - look for clarity, make ideas easy to adopt and help, in small steps to encourage those that specify to take bigger steps towards adopting new ideas. I love seeing opportunity that those too close to their product or ideas have not seen and helping them to evolve. I am also keen to help brilliant young minds and ideas, see them turned into reality. It is not all about profit, for all the ideas that have been turned down as they were not profitable, some innovations that could genuinely help mankind, may have been lost.

We are so clever making our built environment as energy efficient and ourselves as technologically proficient as possible, we are making ourselves ill. We save the earth but what about us? Can we slow things down a little and be a little more uncomfortable - it would give us back our health.

I trained as an Architect but realised that I was not about to set the world alight and had always been fascinated in materials. I am naturally curious and hate to take anything at face value. I have to explore and this lead to a fascination in materials. I have never worked for anyone . My freedom is too important and I am prepared to live by the mistakes and decisions I take and learn. 12 years ago, I set up SCIN , a Materials library an resource. 3 business plans later and a determination to find a way of making an information resource commercial and we are the largest Independent Materials Library and Resource in the UK. We are self funded and along the way have made many connections, inspired many students and found new opportunites. We have help those in a position to innovate through materials and I am now working on a new material that uses agrifbre and about to commercially test it. I walk the walk and talk the talk and love what I do and who I meet on the way.
