Ben Wellington

Ben Wellington is a data analyst/computer scientist and runs the urban planning data blog I Quant NY. His weekly posts cover everything from parking ticket geography, to taxi trip analysis, helping to tell the story and shape the policy of New York City through Open Data. The site has been covered by a variety of news sources, including NPR's All Tech Considered, The New York Times, Business Insider, and The Atlantic's Citylab. Ben is a Visiting Assistant Professor in the City & Regional Planning program at the Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, NY, where he teaches a statistics course to urban planners built around real New York City data He is also a quantitative analyst at Two Sigma and he teaches public speaking and job training skills through improv comedy workshops with the non-profit Cherub Improv. Ben holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science (Natural Language Processing) from New York University and a B.S. in Math/Computer Science from Bucknell University.
