Bio

Haley Paige Buntrock, originally from Riverside Illinois, is attending Columbia College for her fourth year majoring in Film. While attending Riverside Brookfield High School, Haley received The National Academy of Television Arts and Science 2012 Crystal Pillar Award for Excellence in Writing for her music video “Falling.” Other awards include After Hours Film Society 2011 Student Short Film and Video Festival Honorable Mention and Second Place awards, Third Place 2011 CTEC High School Video Festival and First Place in the National Award 2011 Hometown USA Festival. Haley’s short film “Skin” was a finalist at Columbia’s Take 1 Festival and her Documentary “Jill” won the Jury award in Spring 2014. As well as attending Columbia, Haley interned at Radar Studios in Chicago. In summer of 2014, Haley went to Sri Lanka to document the human elephant conflict for the Sri Lanka Wildlife Conservation Society. She has created multiple info videos for the Sri Lanka Wildlife Conservation Society to bring awareness of the human elephant conflict, the Guru Travel Program to influence more students to learn about the human elephant conflict, and The Cameron Can Foundation to bring more awareness of Hydrocephalus. Haley continues to use filmmaking as a way to help bring more awareness to people, organizations, foundations, and conflicts. In addition to her filmmaking, Haley is one of the Managing Directors of TEDxColumbiaCollegeChicago for a second year in a row. She is currently the President and License Holder of TEDxCCC while interning at Kartemquin Films. Haley Paige Buntrock believes in the power of ideas to change attitudes, lives and, ultimately, the world.
