Caroline Buck

Caroline Buck was a Deputy District Attorney for the County of San Diego where she successfully prosecuted over 100 trials involving murder, attempted murder, rape, robbery, assaults with deadly weapons, child molestation, residential burglary, drug trafficking and complex fraud. DDA Buck previously led the CODIS (Combined DNA Index System) team, provided California State Assembly expert testimony on stalking and served as a guest speaker nationally and locally on topics dealing with DNA, blood stain analysis, rape victim credibility, persuasion, and complex frauds. She was a featured lead prosecutor in the original NBC series, "Crime and Punishment" created by Dick Wolf. She mentors at-risk youth (LEAD and Power League) and presently serves on her office's Committee on Race Equality (CORE). Prior to joining the SDDA, she was a graduate fellow for the Central Intelligence Agency and worked for the U.S. Department of State and Department of Justice in Washington, D.C. Ms. Buck served as Vice-President for the Harvard Club of San Diego and as a board member for the American Cancer Society. She also has volunteered in theater operations for the Sundance Film Festival for the past thirteen years. Ms. Buck received her J.D. from George Washington University and her M.P.A. from Harvard's Kennedy School of Government while cross-registered at Harvard Business School. She most recently completed a Kennedy School executive program, "Climate Change and Energy: Policymaking for the Long Term", led by Professor Robert Stavins and “Nonprofit Leadership and Management” taught by Arthur Brooks. Her next passion projects involve creating innovative ways to improve the fiscal literacy of students to empower them for success and exploring independent filmmaking in Austin.

To quote Nobel laureate Malala, "You are never too old to set another goal or dream a new dream." I am thrilled to attend another TED conference and hope to be inspired to set new goals and to optimistically dream about ways to make our world a better place. The lineup of speakers is incredible and will no doubt leave an indelible impression for years to come. Let the creative and collaborative process begin...
