Bio

Muhammad is a medical student with strong passion in community development activities, leadership and awareness especially in the realm of health, because that is his field - Medicine. The millennial started schooling in Darul Arkam School in Yola, Adamawa State. Proceeded to Al-Azhar School Kano in Kano State during which he was a member of the JETS Club, Muslim Students Society of Nigeria, and also held the position of Assistant Headboy in his last year as a student in the school. Muhammad started his tertiary education in Bayero University Kano in 2017, where he was offered BSc. Industrial Chemistry different from his preferred course - MBBS. Muhammad rewrote the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board’s exam in 2017 to seek for another admission (MBBS) at Federal University Dutse which he was successful at. As an MBBS student in Federal University Dutse, despite the predominant notion of the “strictness” of MBBS, Muhammad saw opportunities in student leadership and ventured into Students’ Union Government (SUG) activities, where he served in different capacities and worked with so many other students from various other faculties. He served as the Students Representative of The Faculty of Clinical Sciences at the Students’ Representative Assembly (SRA), Parliamentary Secretary, and Secretary in the Independent School Electoral Committee (ISEC). Throughout his service in the union, he maintained his vision of making student leadership more transparent, more effective, and inclusive. And those are the values was what he is identified with in the university community. Muhammad was also a n active member of the Nigerian Medical Students Association (NiMSA), where he served in different capacities and coordinated different projects. Some of the prominent ones are the community outreach activity in Dutse Jigawa State, to raise awareness on Menstrual Health and Hygiene amongst Secondary Schools boys and girls in September 2021. Muhammad is also a figure at the Federation of African Medical Students’ Associations (FAMSA), the continental association of all Medical Students Associations. In FAMSA Muhammad served as the Program and Design Unit Officer in the Standing Committee on Health and Environment (SCOHE) from 2021 to 2022 and currently serving as the Chairperson to the standing committee. He initiated, implemented and coordinated series of over twenty health promotion activities in different countries in Africa, ranging from capacity building of medical students, commemoration of important health days to campaign and advocacy activities. His success paved his way to be selected as one of the few members of Policy Statement Committee of FAMSA, I preparation for FAMSA’s presentations at the 73rd Session of WHO African Region. Muhammad is an active youth and a humanitarian, he is a member/volunteer in different local humanitarian foundations. He is also a mentor to medical students in his reach. He has helped a lot of students recognized their potentials and guided them to becoming active useful members of their communities. Muhammad is a reader, a personal development geek, and YouTube podcast freak. Muhammad’s deep passion for community development and awareness compelled him to organize TEDxKofarMaranjuwa and hence this project. Muhammad’s ambition is to impact the world through awareness, service and supporting peers with love and compassion.
