My name is Carlota, I am 20 years old and I am a Social Work student at the University of Oviedo. My studies have allowed me to intern at the ‘Asociación Asperger de Asturias’ (Asperger’s Association of Asturias) and work with children who have this syndrome. In addition, I have worked in several occasions in other children’s activities.

My biggest passion is people, being in contact with nature, photography, art, dancer, writing and catching up with my friends over a cup of coffee are also some of my favourite things.

One of my life’s mottos is: ‘opportunities are not lost; you just have to take advantage of them. If you don’t take one, it is not a lost opportunity, it just stops being an opportunity altogether’. That is why you should try to take advantage of every opportunity that is offered to you and be the best version of yourself.

I discovered TED years ago through one of Ken Robinson’s talks, where he speaks about education and creativity. Thanks to TEDxOviedoUniversity 2014 I was able to experience one of those events first-hand in my own city, which was amazing.
