Bio

I am a lifelong learner, tech enthusiast, and philosopher at heart who believes in the power of great ideas to inspire transformation. My passion lies in exploring the intersection of technology, philosophy, and faith. Through my blog, "TechAways with Cephas," I document my journey to understand how these areas shape our world. My writing seeks to spark conversations and help others navigate the complexities of technology's role in society, using a systems-thinking approach. As I continue to learn, I aim to share insights and reflections that encourage critical thinking. I'm excited to expand "TechAways with Cephas" into a podcast—a space to explore the ethical, philosophical, and social implications of technology in greater depth. Since 2018, as a tech educator, I've had the privilege of empowering over 12,000 youth in Western Uganda through initiatives like the Google Digital Skills for Africa Program and other outreach efforts. This journey has been as much about my growth as it has been about theirs. I continue to learn alongside those I teach, adapting to new challenges and insights. Currently, I’m leading Zimeleza Africa, a social enterprise I founded to transform the domestic services sector. We train and connect skilled workers (Zimeleza Associates) with households via a digital platform, focusing on empowering workers and creating fair, dignified growth opportunities. Our social impact programs support the ongoing development of our Associates and their communities. My latest passion is serving as Lead Organizer for TEDxKabale University. I see TEDx as an incredible platform to inspire bold ideas and bring them to life in our region. My goal is to spark more TEDx experiences across Western Uganda, building a community where innovation, creativity, and collaboration thrive. When not focused on professional ventures, I enjoy designing games that encourage meaningful interaction and creative thinking. I’m a music enthusiast, creating music to blend creativity with technology. Moreover, I am a passionate farmer, dedicated to promoting sustainability and supporting my community with hands-on work that connects me to the land and my roots. I am always open to collaboration, conversation, and learning from others. Let’s connect and make an impact, one idea at a time! ☕️

I'm passionate about

Exploring the crossroads of technology, philosophy, and faith—and I love making those big ideas easy to understand. On my blog, TechAways with Cephas, I dive into how tech impacts our lives, with a little philosophical twist to keep things interesting. I’m also into systems thinking, which helps me connect the dots between how tech, society, and everything else fit together. When I’m not diving deep into those topics, I’m usually designing games that challenge people to think differently, proving that learning can indeed be fun. Music is my other outlet—I’ve always been a huge fan of creating it as a way to express myself. Oh, let’s not forget my hands-on side: I’m a farmer, passionate about sustainability and staying connected to the land and my roots.

An idea worth spreading

In a rapidly evolving world, I've come to understand that true empowerment is deeply rooted in enlightenment—the profound journey of understanding the world and our unique place within it. Through this lens, I've learned that even the smallest idea holds the power to ignite a revolution in thought and action. This journey of enlightenment is not just about acquiring knowledge but also about altering our perception, which allows us to see beyond the surface and grasp the underlying potential within ourselves and others. Through my projects aimed at educating and inspiring young minds, I have witnessed how a shift in perception can lead to personal and communal empowerment. When we challenge the status quo and look at the familiar with fresh eyes, we foster innovation and transform lives. My mission is to continue this journey of unlocking potential through knowledge and altered perceptions, confident that with an open mind and a single idea, anything becomes possible.

The TED story

In 2020, amidst the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, I stumbled upon Elon Musk's 2017 TED Talk, 'The future we're building -- and boring.' It blew my mind wide open! What struck me was not only his audacious vision for colonizing Mars but the profound realization that extraordinary people like Elon Musk breathe the same air I do and have the same 24 hours in their day. Listening to Elon discuss interplanetary travel with such conviction, I found myself questioning: what am I doing with my time? If he can conceive life on Mars, what could I achieve if I truly pushed my limits? This talk was a catalyst for tapping into our collective untapped potential. Musk's unwavering belief made the dream of a multi-planetary species tangible, and suddenly, anything seemed possible. This talk ignited a fire within me, challenging me to think bigger and dream wilder. After watching it, I couldn't sit still. My mind overflowed with ideas and possibilities. I began to see opportunities everywhere—in my studies, community, and daily challenges. Now, whenever doubts creep in, I revisit this talk, reminding myself that the sky's not the limit; it's just the beginning. It's a wake-up call, a challenge, and endless motivation to believe in audacious goals and pursue them relentlessly.

Things you might not know

Wait for it... DAYDREAMING. Literally! I think if daydreaming were an Olympic sport, I’d be a gold medalist. My mind has a passport to every imaginable world—no visa required. My daydreams are always in full swing! In all seriousness though, these flights of fancy are more than just mental vacations; they're the secret ingredient in my creative toolkit. So while I might look like I'm staring into space, just know I’m probably planning my next big adventure or solving a mystery that hasn’t happened yet.
