Melaku Belay is a cultural advocate and the driving force behind the Fendika Cultural Center in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Through his leadership, the center has become a vital platform for promoting Ethiopian culture globally, supporting local artists, and facilitating cultural exchange. Melaku's efforts extend beyond showcasing traditional and contemporary cultural expressions to advocating for the preservation of heritage sites like Fendika against potential demolition. He is also actively involved in initiatives to change societal perceptions about dance and is working towards establishing a Dance Studies program in collaboration with Addis Ababa University. Melaku Belay's work underscores the significant role of arts and culture in contemporary societies and the importance of preserving cultural heritage for future generations.
