Bio

Laura Witcher is the School Counselor at Cherokee Bend Elementary School in the Mountain Brook City Schools, a mother and wife and person passionate about learning. Laura has eighteen years of experience in education, thirteen of which is in counseling mostly in schools. She earned her undergraduate degree at Birmingham-Southern College and her graduate degree at The University of Alabama at Birmingham. In 2007, Mrs. Witcher achieved her National Board Certified Teacher - School Counseling Early Childhood - Young Adulthood certification. Laura remains active in professional organizations such as the American School Counselor Association (ASCA), the American Counseling Association (ACA), the Association for Play Therapy (APT), and their state and local chapters. Some of her professional interests include the use of props and play in counseling, support for students who struggle behaviorally in their environment, and working with parents to better meet needs of students.
