The TED story
Until I got invited to speak at TEDxGrandForks in 2015, I had little idea what TED is all about. After my first TEDx Talk, I really thought it was a one and done deal, since many people considered that a once-in-a-lifetime type of achievement. However, when I realized I got invited for a second time, I became a lot more appreciative of the TED experience. I began to do more research on individuals who have done multiple times and I realized that I was in select company. I was aware that some former TEDx speakers eventually ended up organizing their own events. However, I did not think I would be up for the task. That all changed in late 2017, when I found out that a beloved teacher that had taught at my high school for almost 40 years passed away. That sparked me to start thinking about organizing a TEDx event. As I was thinking, I also thought about one of my late mentors who passed away in early 2014, as she emphasized the importance of being bold to share messages to the public. After a few days of hesitation, I decided to try my hand at being a curator at a brand new TEDx event- hence TEDxAlmansorPark is born!
