About Mark

Bio

Music, entrepreneurship, parkour, then medicine. It may seem like an odd series of directions to invest one's life in, but for Mark each has laid the foundation for the next endeavor. In each case he sought to bring harmony through collaboration, efficiency through training, and performance through mindset. Speaking at NEOMED TEDx provided an opportunity to share his thoughts on how inquisitive engagement can produce perceptions and approaches which foster healthy people and efficiency communities. This, coupled with his long held enthusiasm for all things TED, led to his continued involvement with NEOMED TEDx.

I'm passionate about

so many things, but I can't live without: Books- History, sci fi, fantasy, and biographies are my standbys. Adventure- Meandering through mountains and jumping off buildings are my favorites.

An idea worth spreading

Small shifts in perception can alter the way we see, and interact, with the world around us. Training Parkour for over a decade, founding the free community Denver Parkour and Freerunning in 2009, and using this experience to create and implement a successful training program in my career as a Parkour coach changed me. The constant pursuit of wellness, capability, and community, which define Parkour culture drove me to medicine, fostering both my desire and ability to pursue this goal. Now a second-year medical student, I hope to share what Parkour means and how it can help us build wellness in ourselves and our communities. The way we see our community, neighbors, and environment shape how we interact with our world.

The TED story

I remember when I discovered TED, although I couldn't tell you how many videos i watched in that first sitting. As the years went by and I developed the perspectives that sparked my successes I always hoped that I would be able to share these ideas on such a platform. When that chance came in the first NEOMED TEDx, I jumped at it. Now I am excited to help others spread their ideas as an organizer.
