Mimma Viglezio

Born and raised in Lugano, Switzerland, Mimma holds a degree in Italian and English literature from The University of Geneva, where she completed a thesis in Roman Philology. She started her career in the auctions world where she acted as Marketing Manager for Habsburg, Feldhman and then Antiquorum for five years, a Swiss Auction House, based in Geneva, specialised in Watches. In 1992 she accepts a job at the Public Relations renowned firm Hill&Knowlton Italy. She moved to Milan and became Head of their High Profile Goods Division, and starts advising clients such as Bulgari and Celine. After four years at Hill&Knowlton working primarily for Bulgari, the jewellers offer her the position of External Relations Director WW and she thus moves to their Headquarters in Rome. Five years later she is promoted to Corporate Communications Executive Director, role in which she oversees global communications matters for the brand: external relations, advertising, media, financial press and events, becoming the guardian of the image of the brand. After 10 years serving the brand, in December 2003, she accepts a new challenge and moves to Paris to take over the role of WW Communications Director at Louis Vuitton, number one luxury brand of the world in terms of size, and jewel in the crown of LVMH Group. She oversees a budget of over 120 million Euros and a team of more than 40 worldwide. After only one year, she was called and offered a job by PPR for its luxury division, the Gucci Group. From June 2005 till December 31st 2009 Mimma has been Executive VP of Global Communications of Gucci Group, based in London . She coordinated and controlled the activity of 8 brands and is responsible of the Group’s corporate communications, media buying, market intelligence and corporate image. As of January 2010 she is and indipendent Consultant and has founded her own company, Mimma Viglezio Ltd. Mimma lives and works in London and is also a hectic traveller. She speaks five languages and feels at home in every continent, with a strong preference for India. She has travelled there yearly for the past decade and is Vice President of PRASAD Italia ONLUS, a non for profit organisation based in India. She also has a passion for contemporary art, literature and horses.
