About Marisol

I am a…

Brainstormer, Change Agent, Concerned citizen, Consultant, Engineer, Explorer, Idea generator, Project manager, Social entrepreneur

Bio

I have 11 years of experience in the nonprofit sector and utilizing the disciplinary approaches learned in my training as an engineer, I have focused on designing and planning specially tailored tools in order to evaluate and demonstrate the achievements of organizations to strategic stakeholders. This experience linked to my own study and participation in the ongoing development of social justice issues, leading me to actively consider a sustainable, innovative model combining community and government participation, social responsibility, and financial strategies. This model was used successfully by several NGOs, and in 2013 I was internationally recognized by Ashoka and American Express as one of the fifteen leading representatives of social and environmental change in Mexico. My passion has always been to figure out effective ways to ensure sustainability in the projects I am involved with, not simply because the term 'sustainability' has become popular, but because I can testify that the innovative thought that its’ strategies demand tend to create greater connections between and among members of the greater community. Currently, I am studying the Sustainability Studies Master´s Program at Trent University (ON, Canada), my research focus is based on cross-sector collaboration within innovation initiatives.

I'm passionate about

innovative ideas, different perspectives, changes, life!

An idea worth spreading

The four interlinked dimensions of Sustainability (society, economy, Culture, and ecology) must build the base of our thinking regarding all kind of projects in life. I work in tailored tools and indicators that already help people (and more specifically, entrepreneurs) in planning strategically their projects in a sustainable way, to achieve their goals of pursuing social welfare, but also happiness.
